Hilfe bei Auflösung einstellen

Hallo!
Bin jetzt schon seit langem auf der Suche nach einem geeigneten Betriebssystem für meinen Toshiba Tecra (750Mhz, 128MB Ram, 20GB HDD).
Brauche den Laptop zum Surfen. Youtube sollte aber auch laufen

Gnome oder KDE kommen nicht in Frage, die laufen zu langsam.
Habe jetzt mal Ubuntu 9.10 alternate auf Befehlszeile (ohne Desktopumgebung) und dann LXDE nachinstalliert. Problem: Die Auflösung war 800x600 und ich fand keine möglichkeit sie höher zu stellen. Bei 9.10 gibt es auch keine xorg.conf mehr, was das ganz nicht gerade einfach macht.
Mit diesem Display ist maximal 1024x768 möglich.

Versuch es doch mal in Deinem "/home"-Verzeichnis mit dem versteckten Ordner "/.config", worin sich die Datei "/monitors.xml" aufhält.
Dort findest Du auch die derzeitige Konfiguration Deiner Anzeige ( 800x600 ) und noch andere dazu gehörige Parameter ;)

Vielleicht erreichst Du ja so Dein Ziel ( 1024x768 ) 8)
